 Determined
« Thread Started on Aug 10, 2007, 9:57am »

Well, I am going riding again tomorrow morning! Only this time, instead of riding Lady, I am riding another guy's horse, which is for sale, Cheyenne. She's a real pretty buckskin mare. Last Saturday, a lady who sometimes rides with us, Melissa, rode Cheyenne from this guys house to Bob's, because it isn't far. Well we were in the horse pen, which we use as an arena, and she comes up to us and is like "You're not a true cowboy till you've been bucked off and stepped on!" I thought she was just being funny, but no, Cheyenne bucked her off and stepped on her hand! Nevertheless, Melissa rode her on the trails with us. Now, Bob wants me to ride her tomorrow! I think she will be okay, but I am still a little nervous! She doesn't like it when you try and adjust the saddle back to the middle of her back, and she just spooks at little things still. I am pretty sure he said she's a 5 year old. Well, I guess that's about it. Wish me luck! I will update asap, but I do have a busy weekend. See ya!

Woo Hoo! I rode Cheyenne...and she was awesome! She bolted a couple of times from things startling her and me adjusting the saddle, but other than that she was great! It took me a while to settle down, because I was nervous at first, but once I did everything went smoothly. It was so much fun! We bonded really well. When we were untacking her, something on the saddle I guess spooked her and she broke the lead on her halter. She was wearing one of those rope halters that has the lead attatched. But all was well. I brushed her down and talked to her...and never wanted me to walk away! Then in her pen I caught her so easily to get hosed down and she followed me around everywhere. It was so cool! And Bob said he's probably going to get her, which means I will be able to ride her again! I am excited! lol...Oh...one last thing, she is a 5 yr old buskin purebred QH...so pretty! She has one of those dorsal stripes and stuff too! lol..okay! Done now!

That is awesome EM!

I was going to tell you that (before I read your second post) you should NEVER show that you are nervous to a horse, even though you said she did really well. Everytime I ride a new horse I'm always nervous because I don't know what the horse will be like. Like the first time I rode my grandmas 5 year old Morab mare, I was kinda scared because she was really green, but I got used to it after awhile. (Oh yeah, and today when I was feeding her, I noticed that she has a black stripe down her back as well!)

Anyway, sorry about robbing your thread EM! To bad you couldn't have bought her! And congrats on riding her!

lol, thanks. I was just pointing out that it's not a very good idea to be nervous. I kinda thought that you knew that anyway, being the great horsewoman that you are!!

Well, you're one step ahead of me. I have fallen off a horse so many times I don't think that I can count it on 2 hands! :)

lOl, that is soooooooooooo true!! It's time for you to fall of too! Except your parents probably wouldn't let you ride a horse again!

I do need to fall off! It would be stupid if my parents wouldn't let me ride again, they should know the risks they take when they let me go riding! lol

That's really true! Riding can be very risky, even on a trusty horse. Trust me from experience!
